Fort Collins overwhelmed my wife and me with the abundance of pizza. Throughout the summer, I came to the realization that though Colorado boasts a counter-cultural vibe, the college town still subsists on pizza. For a work lunch, our organization catered in Panhandler's, which must have been our 8th pizza institution of the summer. These guys have the thick, pan-crust down to a tee. The namesake pie provides a crunchy texture, sustaining the thick, cheesy character well. To add to the quality dough, I found the sauce and toppings to be fairly good quality. Nothing out of the world, as most pizza in this town can hold its own. One of the better shops in town, Panhandler's would serve you well as a hearty meal, or better yet, breakfast the next day.

Pretty typical college pizza joint. This place serves the deep dish type, not really my favorite, but it was decent. Decor is a bit old and divey, which is something I like in my college town pizzerias. Service was better than average. Folks that were taking orders and deliver pies were very professional and pleasant.

WARNING, They do not serve real Chicago style deep dish. Good pizza, I do favor it over many other places. Those who think they are coming here for Chicago style deep dish pizza, you won't find it here. Don't be fooled by what people tell you. Do not expect a real deep dish pizza. I was disappointed like many others in this area but for what they do make, it's always been enjoyable and I won't down grade them for that.

This place is pretty cool because I haven't come across Chicago style anywhere else in town. However, Im always a little disappointed. Yes, the pizzas are large and the crust is thick... but it always tastes like I have a huge burn on my tongue. Or like I have a cold.. you know, where things smell wonderful, but the taste just isn't there. I really want to like this place, and I will most likely go here again... but, its not the best (or even in the top 10) pizza places I've had. If your heart desires Chicago style and you're in a pinch, check them out. If you want the best slice of your life, you might be disappointed.

I'm so torn writing this review. I ordered delivery and it forever. No big deal. I ordered Chicago style with Chicago sauce. The sauce was super briny. The tomatoes tasted like they were in the metal cans too long. It's huge. Heavy. And expensive. I want to try other cuts and toppings. Go check it out.

Their pizza is SO good! They have super thick crust pizza and a bunch of different options. They also offer pizza by the slice in the store. Love love panhandlers!

I hear that the pizza is good but wouldn't know. A large party came in right after I ordered. An hour later I had watched no less than ten pizzas go in and out of the pizza oven and be brought to party's tables, while there was still no sign of my pizza or the wings they said they would being out first. When I asked about my food, I was just told it was a bad time. No apology, no offer to make it right. I understand the need to cater to the large groups, but there is no reason my pizza couldn't be interspersed with the others. A single order shouldn't have to wait for the entire party's pizzas to finish before being started. Poor customer service at its finest.

Long story. I stopped by and ordered a medium pineapple and Canadian bacon deep dish. I asked how long it was going to take and she said about 25 minutes. We exchanged pleasantries about tattoos and I was like awesome, that gives me enough time to get to Wilbur's to get some beer. I'll pick it up on my way back through! So I get to Wilbur's. Pick a six. Some FCB, Left Hand, Stone. Head back to Panhandlers. Leave the car running with the sixer in the passenger seat. Should be like 30 seconds right? I get in there and Will, dude extraordinaire, is like umm, we lost your pizza. I'm like, did it grow legs? And without missing a beat he's like dude, we'll upgrade to a large at no cost, just a few minutes. I'm like cool. Just gotta run to the car and grab the sixer. I head back in and sit down and will's like, DUDE!! We found your pizza!! So I grab the pie in one hand. Sixer in the other and head on out for a great night of beer and pizza. But wait. I'm outside walking to the car and a familiar voice behind me calls out CHAD! You gotta try these cookies. It was Will, my new best friend. Hands me a bag of warm fresh baked choco chips. We hugged it out. Now I'm at home enjoying this amazing deep dish Hawaiian, a FCB 1020 pale ale and gooey chocolate chip cookies. Watching Neighbors on HBO. BEST NIGHT EVER. thanks Will. I love you.

Just yuck ! ! Taste and appearance was severely lacking. Reminded me of the pizza they served in grade school. Won't be returning

Used to love their pizza until I encountered their rude owner. Discussed doing a community out reach opportunity with them and immediately shot me down. Clearly does not care about their community around them and is just interested in the money. Never eating there again after this response.

So I ordered from here because of all the great Chicago style comments and I can honesty say that it was NOTHING like Chicago pizza. I got all excited and spend $30.00 on ONE pizza I went thin with Chicago sauce & Italian sausage just hopping against hope it would come anywhere close to my beloved Chicago thin crust. I even asked for it to be Chicago cut. I should have know when the girl taking the order didn't know what that meant and I had to explain that it was cut in squares. So what did i get you ask? I got a pizza that was not cut in squares and had chunks of tomatoes all over the top but no "sauce" to speak of & the sausage had absolutely no taste. I have had bad pizza in the past but this is the first time I have ever just thrown out a pizza because it was so bad. I should have just ordered the thin crust spicy Italian from Papa John's and save myself $15.00!

I love this pizza. Took some buddies I made here to this place as a friday get together kinda thing and there was no regrets from anyone. Fairly priced and a nice environment and not a whole lotta people inside. Staff incredibly friendly. Decent music and they were fair to a date I took here who broke down in tears to a song they played inside.

Absolutely delicious!!! Wish I could have some now!!! Their square slices are the best!! One slice fills you up!!! Worth the wait!! My favorite is supreme, but you can't go wrong with a slice of meat!

As much as I love their pizza, I have to leave this review. It took nearly an hour and half to get out pizza which was completely unacceptable as we were the only ones in the restaurant. If you want panhandlers order it to pick up so you don't end up waiting forever; we never got an apology or anything! Terrible customer service when dining in.

Santa - it's Richard. You remember me, right? Well, all I want this year is a d-lish pizza from Panhandler delivered to me daily. Ok, maybe some world peace too... If nothing else, I wish that Panhandler would open up another fantastic location closer to Denver. Best pizza...no joke. If only I could drive up to Fort Fun all the time I would be happy, but alas I cannot get my Panhandler fix that readily. Thick, fluffy crust and toppings to die for! Love the fact that beer is served too! This gem is the top of the line for mouth watering pizza bliss!

Alright, so I tried Pan Handlers Pizza in Ft. Collins. This is suppose to be the oldest pizza joint in FoCo. I don't know what the hype was I found it to be over cooked on the edges under cooked in the middle and real doughy throughout each bite. Maybe I got a bad batch of whack but I wasn't that impressed with this greasy pizza. I'm not bashing or clowning I'm just saying. I was expecting it to be a little better. The sauce did have some really nice flavor so all in all it wasn't a total flop.

This place seriously has the best Chicago style pizza ever! From the sauce to the meats, they are all very fresh and flavorful! I come here often and never regret it! The set up is a little strange since there is raised areas as well as floor level tables. But seriously, this place is the best! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! The meat is fresh and super tasty, the sauce is to die for, and the crust is the prefect mixture between crunchy and soft, it is amazing!!! They now have many different daily deals, which you will have to check out for yourself, I usually just come in for lunch and get the two slice deal. Usually one with pepperoni one with sausage! Though their supreme is also great! I have never tried their NY thin crust, which I love that style, but why mess with perfection, they do the Chicago style so well that's what I get!! If you haven't had this pizza yet, you my friend are truly missing out! It is THE BEST Chicago Style I have ever had!!!

Don't bother with this place. If you're in the area keep on walking (or driving). Pizza was below average, flavorless, and lacked cheese. Customer service was awful too. We ordered breadsticks with our pizza for our kid to keep her busy while the pizza cooked. Received the pizza before the breadsticks... Huge disappointment! Will never be going here again. :(

Heaven on earth! I remember my uncle taking me here before I moved to FTC saying this is the best pizza in town. I didn't expect the best pizza in my life! It's thick, handmade goodnes that I constantly crave makes me want to go to the fort right now! I could only wish they would expand and open a local venue. Dreams do come true you know!

Absolutely fantastic in every way. I am vegetarian, so we got half meat and half without. It was evenly split with ample toppings, fluffy crust that was carmelized in places, and made super quick. Best part besides having honey available to put on the crust? We dined in, so they give us FREE breadsticks. And not the crappy, frozen kind. Delicious, eat-too-many breadsticks. Thank you so much for showing a couple of Iowans a great time in Fort Collins. If/when we move out there, you can bet we'll be patronizing you often. Literally one of if not the best pizza I have EVER HAD.

Great pizza! Chicago style crust, nice crunch to thick crust, the best Italian sausage around. Sauce a little sweet! Overall a winner!

Panhandler's has the best pizza in Fort Collins. The crust is nice and thick and the sauce is homemade. The atmosphere is great with the fireplace. We order delivery from Pan's about 1-2 times each month. LOVE!

Pretty good pizza in a style one doesn't normally find it. Panhandler's does the rectangular thick style of pizza, what I believe I"ve seen described as "Sicilian" by other places. And it's not bad, especially for lovers of thick crust like myself. Is it the best in town? No, but it's good for the occasional stop, especially in the afternoon, when it's at its cheapest. Give it a try.

Growing up in Fort Collins, I visited Panhandler's quite a bit growing up. It has lasted through the years and when I went back to re-visit - it is still as good as ever. Great sauce always (real chunks of seasoned tomato) and always great to get a pitcher of beer with a custom made pie. The interior probably could be a little cleaned up -- but the pizza remains outstanding.

Panhandlers Pizza is to me the pizza that all other pizza must live up to in order to truly satisfy. I can not go to Fort Collins without making a trip there. From the sauce to the melt in your mouth whole wheat crust, I have never enjoyed a pizza since I moved away from the Fort in the same way that I enjoy this. The crust is very thick, very moist, and especially good when you order a whole pie rather than by the slice. I like the plain cheese pizza because it comes standard with extra cheese with delicious Italian seasoning on the top. Panhandlers is by far the best pizza in Fort Collins, and in my mind, the best I've ever had. Seriously. On the whole, Panhandlers is not the most exciting landmark Fort Collins has to offer. In my opinion, delivery or takeout is where it's at. It takes a while, but it's worth the wait. As a restaurant, the place lacks stimuli beyond the food. They serve good beer and mediocre wine. It is very log-cabbiny and needs a makeover. In addition to the interior decorating, the place is often messy-seeming because they struggle to bus tables in a timely manner. But overall, the product is good and should be experienced by all. Trust me.

Ugh. I did not like this pizza. I was oversauced and under everything else. Im not sure why others seem to like this place so much, but It could be just me. I will not come back here, but give it a try, maybe they just made a bad pie that day. It happens. Oh well. Too many other pizza places in foco to warrant a revisit here.

This is one of my favorite lunch restaurants. Mostly due to the good food and that it's close to campus without a long line. This place also sells pizza by the slice that is almost always fresh out of the oven, a real rarity when it comes to pizza by the slice places. My girlfriend loves it and wishes that we could live there.

Panhandler has good pizza. I like to get my deep dish pizza from here. Large chunks of Italian sausage. They cook their pizzas a little more than I like. Probably one of the best family pizza places to dine-in in Fort Collins.

Best pizza, nice staff. Actually wish there was a tip line on credit card statements so I could tip them other than cash. Great music too

This was by far the most disgusting pizza I have ever tasted. Before this I always said I'd never met a pizza I didn't like...that is no longer the case. My stomach turns every time I pass by Panhandlers.

Best pizza in Fort Collins! I love this place! Ever since college from 2000-2004, I have been a great fan of this place. I always stop by this little place when I am in town has become tradition!

They dont have many pizzas each day, but I suggest getting one made to order, they have a fabulous selection of combinations! I was skeptical at first, I am from the east coast and like my pizza thin crust, and this wasn't too thick or too thin. IF you have ever eaten at peace a pizza, this place is a close second. I got the California and it was great and the other half of my pizza I forget what I had but it was also fabulous. It does take about 20 minutes for them to make it fresh though.

Pizza by the slice! Not since Rocky Rococo's (go Badgers) have I been able to buy thick crust, saucey pizza with a savory pizza taste. The cheese is sweet and browned just right. A variety of toppings including the creative California Artichoke. This place has been around forever, and for good reason! Enjoy!!

oh my. panhandler's pizza is numero uno in my mind. and by that, i mean every time i am in fort collins after being gone for awhile and want pizza, i will always get panhandler's first. panhandler's captures a lot of memories and senses for me. i grew up on the west side of foco, and we would frequent this place. i love their wheat crust pizza with either pepperoni, sausage, or both. i remember watching tv while eating my pizza and our parents probably scolding us for being disorderly. i always used to be captivated by the ovens and "those big college kids" that worked there. everyone, and i mean everyone, should check out panhandler's at least once. if they don't capture your senses, they don't deserve your business - i doubt that will be the case. as a side note, i remember being there in one of the booths as i watched eric wynalda score the first ever mls goal when he played for the san jose earthquakes...yes, i knew the significance then.
